From the complexities of casting, to selling projects in a streaming era, and what it takes to keep momentum going over the long life of making your film, these producers will share the lessons they’ve learned.

ALLISON ROSE CARTER
Festival film: THE ADULTS
Allison Rose Carter has produced over 20 feature films. She got her start on Eyad Zahra’s THE TAQWACORES, which had its premiere at the inaugural NEXT category at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival. Since then, Allison has worked with dozens of talented new voices and established filmmakers such as Ira Sach’s LOVE IS STRANGE, Andrea Arnold’s AMERICAN HONEY (winner of the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival 2016), Oren Moverman’s THE DINNER, Demetri Martin’s Dean, Josephine Decker’s MADELINE’S MADELINE and SHIRLEY, Kent Jones’ DIANE (winner US Narrative Screenplay and Narrative Feature at 2018’s Tribeca Film Festival), Rick Alverson’s THE MOUNTAIN, John Lee’s FALSE POSITIVE, Janicza Bravos’s ZOLA, and Daniels’ EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE. Allison serves in the Dean’s Council at her alum, Florida State University, and has participated in the Trans-Atlantic Partnership, NYFF Artist Academy, IFP Film Week and the Sundance Creative Producing Lab. She works all over the world, but resides in Brooklyn, NY.

LIZZIE SHAPIRO
Festival Films: BAD THINGS, SONGS ABOUT FUCKING
Lizzie Shapiro is a producer at The Space Program. She most recently produced Brittany Snow’s PARACHUTE and Aristotle Torres’ STORY AVE in competition at the 2023 SXSW Film Festival. PARACHUTE received Special Jury Awards for both Directing and Performance, and STORY AVE received the Special Jury Award for Cinematography. She will be premiering Stewart Thorndike’s BAD THINGS and James Gallagher’s SONGS ABOUT FUCKING at the 2023 Tribeca Film Festival. Additionally, she produced the 2022 Independent Spirit Cassavetes Award winner SHIVA BABY (SXSW ’20, TIFF ’20) and MICKEY AND THE BEAR (SXSW ’19, Cannes ’19) that both premiered to critical acclaim and were distributed by Utopia Films. Lizzie is also serving as a Co-Executive Producer on the Adam McKay/Emma Seligman SUGAR BABY series currently in development at HBO. She is the 2023 SXSW recipient of the Janet Pierson Champion Producing award, and the 2022 recipient of the Independent Spirit Producing Award.

TAYLOR SHUNG
Festival Films: THE GRADUATES, SOMEWHERE QUIET
Taylor Shung is a producer born and raised in New York City. Her most recent film credits include Celine Song’s PAST LIVES (2023), Chloe Zhao’s NOMADLAND (2020), Kentucker Audley and Albert Birney’s STRAWBERRY MANSION (2021), and Annabelle Attanasio’s MICKEY AND THE BEAR (2019). Upcoming credits include Zia Anger’s MY FIRST FILM, Olivia West Lloyd’s SOMEWHERE QUIET and Hannah Peterson’s THE GRADUATES. Taylor has also produced short films that have played at prestigious festivals around the world, notably Alexa Lim Haas’ AQUA VIVA, which won the 2018 SXSW Animated Shorts Grand Jury Prize. She had her Broadway Debut as Video Producer for Ivo Van Hove’s revival of WEST SIDE STORY. She is a 2019 Sundance Creative Producing Fellow.
